At Wigton Moor Junior Football Club, girls are at the heart of our community. We believe football is for everyone—so whether you’ve played before or simply want to give it a try, Saturday mornings are the perfect chance to get involved, have fun, and make new friends.
Our Saturday morning sessions are open to all girls of primary school age from across North Leeds and beyond. We’ve teamed up with Wigton Juniors Play From The Back (PFTB) to create friendly, inclusive football for the club and the wider community.
When & Where:
Every Saturday at Wigton Moor Recreation Ground (and Roundhay Park if pitches are unplayable)
Who:
Primary school aged girls (all abilities)
What to Expect:
Fun skills games, friendly matches, and loads of encouragement—no try-outs, no pressure!
Sessions are designed to help every girl build confidence, make friends, and discover the joy of football, all while being active in a safe, supportive setting.
Friendly leaders and positive role models—several of our coaches are women with years of experience in helping girls grow through football.
All coaches and volunteers are DBS checked; safeguarding and inclusivity are at the centre of everything we do.
Whether your daughter is shy, outgoing, sporty, or just curious, she’ll be well looked after—there’s no need to have played before.
Former WMJFC Player Issy Stewart
Girls just like yours have started with us and discovered a real passion for the game. We’re proud of the achievements and smiles of our players—whether joining a team, making new friends, or simply having a go.
Did you know? Wigton Moor JFC alum Issy Stewart went from our Saturday mornings to making her debut for Sheffield United Ladies. Her journey shows what’s possible when girls get involved—from first kick to amazing football adventures.
Can my daughter come on her own?
Absolutely! Many of our girls start without knowing anyone. Coaches and other players make everyone feel included from the very first session.
What does she need to bring?
Comfortable sportswear (trainers or football boots), a drink, and enthusiasm! We provide balls and equipment.
Is it just for team players?
Not at all—these sessions are for girls of all abilities, especially beginners.
