At Wigton Moor Junior AFC, there’s a place for every young footballer—whether just starting out in our Youth Training sessions or joining one of our established teams. We’re dedicated to helping children enjoy the game, build friendships, and develop their skills in a supportive and friendly club environment.
Our Youth Training sessions are the perfect way for younger children to get started with football, learn new skills, and make friends—all before joining a team. These Saturday morning sessions are led by our Head of Youth Development and focus on fun, inclusion, and building the basics of the game in a welcoming, positive setting.
Youth Training is open to children not yet in a team as well as some of our younger squad members who want extra practice. For details on times and how to join, see our Youth Training page.
Our teams span a wide range of age groups—from Under 7s right through to Under 18s—so there’s a football journey here for everyone. Each team is led by dedicated coaches who prioritise player development, teamwork, and enjoyment of the game.
Teams train regularly, compete in local leagues, and offer opportunities to experience everything from friendly matches to competitive fixtures. Both boys and girls are eligible to join our teams, and all players are encouraged to build confidence, develop their football and be part of a close-knit club community. Find out more on our Teams page.
We are delighted to support girls’ football at every level, with dedicated girls’ teams spanning a variety of age groups. These teams train and play in all-girls’ leagues, helping players develop new skills, make friends, and gain confidence in a positive, encouraging environment. Our girls’ teams offer a welcoming route for players of all abilities to enjoy football—whether playing competitively or just for the love of the game.
Find out more about the age groups, coaches and training opportunities available on our Girls’ Teams page.
No matter which route a player takes, they’ll benefit from Wigton Moor’s commitment to player development, teamwork and having fun both on and off the pitch. Everyone is invited to explore our teams and find the best fit for their football journey. For any questions or help getting started, please reach out via the Contact page—we’re always happy to help!
