At Wigton Moor Junior AFC, upholding high standards of behaviour—on and off the pitch—is at the heart of what we do. Our Codes of Conduct for players, parents, supporters, coaches, managers, and club officials reflect our shared values of inclusivity, respect, teamwork, and integrity.
We ask everyone involved in our club to read, understand, and follow these guidelines at all times. By working together and setting a positive example for others, we help foster a safe, supportive, and enjoyable environment for everyone who represents Wigton Moor, ensuring that football can be enjoyed by all.
In both training and matches I will …
Always play my best for the benefit of the team
Play fairly and be friendly
Play by the rules and respect the referee
Shake hands with the other team, win or lose
Listen carefully to what my coach tells me
Understand that a coach has to do what’s best for the team
Talk to someone I trust or the Club Welfare Officer if I am unhappy about anything at my club
Encourage my teammates
Respect the facilities, home or away
I understand that if I do not follow the code I may be asked to
Apologise to whoever I’ve upset
Receive a formal warning
Be dropped, substituted, or suspended from training
While attending both training and matches I will ….
Have fun; it’s what we’re all here for
Celebrate effort and good play from both sides
Always respect the referee and coaches and encourage the players to do the same
Stay behind the touchline and within the designated spectators area
When players make mistakes offer them encouragement to try again next time
Never engage in or tolerate offensive, insulting or abusive language or behaviour
I understand that failure to follow the code I may be…
Issued with a verbal warning or asked to leave
Required to meet with the club committee, league or Club Welfare Officer
Obligated to undertake an FA education course
Requested not to attend future games, be suspended or have my membership removed
Required to leave the club along with any dependants, and / or issued with a fine
Police being called immediately for your removal to deal with inappropriate or threatening behaviour
In addition to the above, all incidents will be reported to the relevant league and the West Riding County FA.
I am fully aware that the FA encourages the taking of appropriate images of children in football, but I must first ensure that the club has parental consent from all players participating before I share these or publish on a public domain i.e. social media. Failure to comply with this will be viewed as serious and you will commit to take the images or videos down immediately.
I understand that managers and coaches are unpaid volunteers who give up their free time to work with the team. As such, I will give them my support and will never complain about decisions either face-to-face or behind their back i.e. behind the respect barrier or on social media. I will also contact the club if I see or hear of this taking place. I will take any issues to the head of boys / girls if issues persist.
We all bear a collective responsibility to set a good example and help provide a positive environment in which children can learn and enjoy the game. Play your part and observe The FA’s Respect Code of Conduct at all times.
ON AND OFF THE FIELD, I WILL:
Use my position to set a positive example for the young people I am responsible for
Show respect to others involved in the game including match officials, opposition players, coaches, managers, officials and spectators
Adhere to the laws and spirit of the game
Promote Fair Play and high standards of behaviour
Respect the match official’s decision
Never enter the field of play without the referee’s permission
Never engage in, or tolerate, offensive, insulting or abusive language or behaviour
Be gracious in victory and defeat.
WHEN WORKING WITH PLAYERS, I WILL:
Place the well-being, safety and enjoyment of each player above everything, including winning
Never engage in or tolerate any form of bullying
Encourage each player to accept responsibility for their own behaviour and performance
Ensure all activities I organise are appropriate for the players’ ability level, age and maturity
Co-operate fully with others in football (e.g. officials, doctors, physiotherapists, welfare officers) for each player’s best interests.
I understand that if I do not follow the Code, any/all of the following actions may be taken by my club, County FA or The FA:
I MAY BE:
Required to meet with the club, league or County Welfare Officer
Suspended by the club from attending matches
Suspended or fined by the County FA
Required to leave or be sacked by the club.
