From a humble start in 1978 as a single boys’ team at Wigton Moor Primary School, Wigton Moor Junior AFC has grown into a thriving grassroots football club based in Leeds. Our journey took us from sharing facilities with local cricket teams to settling at The Recreation Ground, our home for over four decades.
At the heart of our club are the values of inclusivity, teamwork, respect, integrity, and resilience. We create a welcoming and safe environment for players of all backgrounds and abilities. Our commitment to safeguarding is unwavering, following the highest standards of the FA guidelines to ensure the health and safety of everyone involved.
We proudly support 21 open teams, from Under 9s through Under 18s, and 8 girls’ teams from Under 11s through Under 18s. Our teams compete in multiple leagues, including the Harrogate and District, Harrogate and Wharfedale Friendly, Garforth, Leeds Minor, and West Riding Girls Football Leagues. Matches take place at The Recreation Ground and Soldiers Field throughout the season, with training also held at GSAL and Boddington Football Hub during the winter months.
Our facilities support player development across seasons: summer football thrives at The Recreation Ground and Soldiers Field, while GSAL and Boddington Football Hub provide essential spaces during winter. Recent grants from the Football Foundation and community backing have helped us improve our pitches and amenities, enhancing the club experience for players, coaches, and families.
